| ROAD STILL NOT KIND TO RASCALS
Crestwood, IL -- The first road win still eludes the River City Rascals this season. Perfect at home, the opposite on the road. The Windy City Thunderbolts handed River City its fifth loss away from O’Fallon Saturday night at Standard Bank Stadium, 5-1. It only took a brisk two hours and eighteen minutes after a night before lasted almost five hours thanks to a 1:12 rain delay and a Thunderbolts win in extra innings, 13-12. Both teams were held scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when the first three Thunderbolts singled off Rascals starter Chris Clem. With the bases loaded, Clem committed an error on a comebacker to the mound. The right-hander tripped and the ball bounced out of his glove, allowing the first run to score. The inning continued and three more came in, one on a wild pitch, and the other two on RBI singles by Amos Ramon and Mike Coles to give Windy City a 4-0 lead. One more run was added on in the bottom of the fifth inning when Brett Amyx singled to center with two outs to plate Josh Horn, making it 5-0. Four of the five Thunderbolt runs were earned off Clem as he allowed the leadoff man to reach in four of the six innings he worked. Stephen Flake made his second start of the season for the Thunderbolts. The right-hander won up at Road Ranger Stadium earlier this year. Flake sat the Rascals down in order in the third, fourth, sixth and ninth innings and faced the minimum in the seventh inning as the Rascals were caught stealing. The lone Rascal run came in the eighth when catcher Randy Rosa doubled to lead-off the inning. With two outs, Luke Barganier singled to center to score Rosa. Flake (2-0) ended up tossing a complete game for the win, allowing four hits while striking out nine. Clem (1-2) allowed eight hits and walked four over six innings. Adam Tollefson worked two shutout innings of relief for River City without allowing a hit. The Rascals (6-5) are now 0-5 on the road and will conclude the series Sunday night at 6:05 p.m. against the Thunderbolts (3-7) at Standard Bank. Right-hander Jonathan Miller (0-1, 0.67 ERA) will make the start for River City. The Rascals have an off day Monday before hosting the Midwest Sliders next Tuesday at T.R. Hughes Ballpark where they are 6-0. For tickets call the Rascals box office at (636) 240-BATS or visit www.rivercityrascals.com.
