O’Fallon, MO – After another Friday night fireworks delay, the River City Rascals and Southern Illinois Miners battled four hours and forty-one minutes as the Miners took it in ten innings15-10. Southern Illinois came back to take the lead after trailing 6-3 going into the eighth inning. Willie Keene connected on a three-run home run which was followed by a two-run home run from Tony Roth to make it 8-6. With the score at 9-7 Miners going into the bottom of the ninth, River City rallied for two runs thanks to an RBI double by pinch hitter Randy Rosa and a game tying single from Luke Barganier. In the tenth, a single by Roth was followed by an error by pitcher Brian Logan on a bunt. A double-steal later put runners at second and third which set up a Logan wild pitch to put the Miners on top by a run. Brandon Jones was at the plate during all of this and drove the next pitch he saw into the left-field bleachers while he admired the shot. Rascals Manager Toby Rumfield did not like the showing up of his pitcher which led to words being exchanged between the two clubs. Andrew Sweet doubled home Brad Hough for the Rascals in the bottom of the inning for the Rascals final run.
