| RASCALS COME UP SHORT AGAINST THUNDERBOLTS
O’Fallon, MO – A season high six errors and fourteen hits by the visitors plagued the River City Rascals as the Windy City Thunderbolts took game two of the series 11-8 Thursday night at T.R. Hughes Ballpark. “They swung hard and found the holes,” said Rascals Manager Toby Rumfeld. “We played sloppy tonight, we had six errors. If we would have won tonight, we wouldn’t have deserved it.” Danny Powers (2-2) started for the Rascals and gave up eight runs, seven earned on nine hits in 4.0 innings. For Powers it was his first home loss of the season. The Rascals put up three runs in the second thanks to a double from Luke Barganier which cleared the bases. In the top of the third the ThunderBolts tied up the score with a two run home run by Gilberto Mejia, and an RBI groundball from Phillip Hawke. The Rascals responded in the bottom of the inning by putting up four more runs to give them back the lead at 7-3. Andrew Sweet hit a two out single to right field to score two, followed by a single to right from Phil Laurent. Jacob DeBoer brought home two more runs when he hit a double down the left field line. But the four run lead started to dwindle. Windy City eventually took the lead in the fifth when they added four runs, and increased their lead with three more in the seventh making it 11-7 ThunderBolts.
